Tauch ein in die Magie des Karnevals von Sitges, ein Ereignis, das als eines der ältesten Kataloniens gilt und das Prestige genießt, als eines der besten in Europa angesehen zu werden. Diese Feier wurde mit der Auszeichnung als Fest von nationalem touristischem Interesse gewürdigt. Sein besonderes Merkmal ist die einladende Atmosphäre und die maximale Ausgelassenheit, die Jahr für Jahr Hunderttausende von Besuchern anzieht.

 

Das Herz des Festes bilden die zwei unverzichtbaren Termine: die Parade am Sonntag und Dienstag. Die Rua de la Disbauxa findet am Sonntag, den 15. Februar (12 Uhr – Kinder / 19:30 Uhr – Erwachsene) und die Rua de l'Extermini am Dienstag, den 17. Februar (12 Uhr – Kinder / 21 Uhr – Erwachsene) statt.Sie sind der maximale Ausdruck der Karnevalskunst, eine Darbietung, bei der die Kreativität keine Grenzen kennt.

To commemorate International Xató Day, El Retiro is once again offering a masterclass led by Carles Montserrat Eroles. Equipment to bring: mortar, pestle, apron and knife. After the workshop is finished, a sampling of dishes will be held, accompanied by omelettes, red wine, pork crackling flatbread and sparkling wine. Booking at the secretary’s office until Thursday 5 February or the workshop is full. Limited places. El Retiro members, free of charge. Non-members, 15 euros.

7 pm Commemoration of fifty years since the restoration of the public Carnival celebration by El Retiro

In 1976, after almost forty years when Carnival was banned by the Franco dictatorship, El Retiro brought back the public Carnival celebration by organising a procession through the streets of Sitges with a float and different groups in fancy dress.

That event signalled the first steps in the start of the Carnival of Democracy and the current festival model.

Place: La Fragata

On 12 February, La Fragata will become the site where the battle over the future of energy will be waged. Amidst fancy dress, music and colour, opposing forces will clash and Sitges will determine the fate of the Universe.

After arriving, Carnestoltes and his entourage will head to the City Council along with the Carnival Queen. His Majesty Carnestoltes will deliver the traditional Predicot speech laden with satire, irony and the Carnivalesque spirit on the City Council balcony.

- Afternoon: Llar d’infants La Moixiganga, Esteve Barrachina, Escola Pia Sitges, Residència Les Magnòlies, Hospital Sant Joan Baptista, Casals Municipal de la Gent Gran de Pau Casals and Joan Maragall.

 

The Sitges Park residence will be visited on Saturday 14 February at 2 pm.

  

7 pm Rua d'Antes (Pre-parade)

Place: Prior entertainment at Cap de la Vila

The procession for those who are nostalgic for our beloved Carnival, the Rua d’Antes, begins in the epicentre of town. Dress up in the first thing you find at home and head to the streets! The event will begin with music from Nyora Records, where the expropriation of public maritime land will have a reason: Celebration and ‘deskontrol’. Once the usual visit has been paid by His Majesty Carnestoltes and the Carnival Queen, the Rua d’Antes begins, with entertainment by Markatu, Tropical Sound and LolaVan.

Saturday 14 February

Visit by His Majesty Carnestoltes and the Sitges Carnival Queen with their respective entourages.

 

11 am Bed Fancy Dress Race

Place: Cap de la Vila - Previous entertainment

Organiser: No K-lia, Colla Huertos and Enigma.

The best satirical Carnival gangs will enliven the Gran Quinto Musical with showmanship, fun and big prizes. The Rua de les Estrelles (Star Parade) will be held first.

Route: Àngel Vidal, Santiago Rusiñol, Jesús, Illa de Cuba, Sant Gaudenci and Sant Francesc, with entertainment by Tropical Sound

One of the most anxiously-awaited days of Carnival is here: ‘Fardo’ Saturday and the authentic Ball del Fardo, organised by Barraques de Sitges. Performance by La Banda del Fardo, a cover band from Sitges created just for the occasion, which is more astonishing every time and is coming back this year! We’ll also enjoy local Djs before, during and after.

The group will leave from Plaça de l’Ajuntament accompanied by their entourage and the criers who want to show the King of Carnival their respect.
