40 restaurants participate in Sitges Tapa a Tapa on its fifteenth anniversary
Residents have been able to sample the tapa crafted by the students of the Hospitality School at IES Joan Ramon Benaprès in Cap de la Vila.
Sitges Tapa a Tapa is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this year with a special spring edition. Cap de la Vila hosted the event, which featured the participation of the Hospitality School at IES Joan Ramon Benaprès in Cap de la Vila yet another year. Students from the school were tasked with putting together the gourmet tapa of the day: a duck Bensandvitx accompanied by a small draft beer from Estrella Damm, the partner company that is also celebrating an anniversary this year: its one hundred fiftieth.
Over the course of ten days, forty establishments in Sitges are offering a gastronomic experience through their food creations, with the tapas accompanied by a small draft beer or bottle of beer for €4.50. The organisers are hoping to sell more than 38,000 tapas over the ten days and generate more than 170,000 euros in direct sales. Those participating in this gastronomy route will be able to vote for their favourite tapas and enter a draw for two meals in two restaurants on the route.
As ever, people will be able to enjoy tributes to traditional Catalan cuisine adapted to the twenty-first century, as well as fusion tapas featuring international cuisine. For example, they can sample a sobrassada sausage bonbon, ravioli stuffed with chicken from the Penedès, raw salmon caprici and profiteroles with asparagus and parmesan, among many other tapas.
Sitges Tapa a Tapa is organised by the Gremi d'Hosteleria de Sitges with the collaboration of Estrella Damm and the support of the Regidoria de Turisme de Sitges de l'Ajuntament (Councillor's Office for Tourism at Sitges Town Council), the Institut Joan Ramon Benaprès and Gastronosfera. A leaflet with full information on Sitges Tapa a Tapa can be found on the Gremi d'Hosteleria de Sitges website, in the town’s two tourist offices and in participating establishments.
