Sitges spotlights local culture for Sant Jordi

The Sant Jordi cultural programming will kick off this Thursday 16 April and last until Sunday 26 April. The main event will be the book and rose fair on 23 April, when local authors will be on hand to sign their books

Sitges City Council presents a Sant Jordi 2026 programme full of cultural, educational and fun activities. Children's workshops, book launches and the traditional fair on the 23rd are just some of the events featured on the programme scheduled from 16 to 26 April in conjunction with different organisations and institutions in town.

 

The programme aims to spotlight local culture and celebrate one of the most special holidays for Catalans.

 

Sant Jordi 2026 will feature the opening of the Patronat d’Acció Social Catòlica (ASC), a historical cultural facility on Carrer de les Parellades will host the Sant Jordi opening speech by the meteorologist from Sitges Gori Masip on 22 April at 6 pm. City Council will also hold an exhibition to commemorate its reopening, which can be seen on 23 and 24 April during two open days.

 

SANT JORDI FAIR

Sitges City Council is holding the traditional Sant Jordi book and rose fair on Passeig de la Ribera on 23 April. At the institutional stand, located by the monument to El Greco, local authors will be on hand from 10 am to 8 pm to sign their books and chat with readers.

 

There will also be other activities on 23 April, like the children's storytelling of ‘Les Veïnes ens expliquen un conte’ and the sardana dance with Cobla Maricel that will end the day in Cap de la Vila at 8.15 pm.

 

OTHER EVENTS

The Sant Jordi programme will conclude the weekend of 25 and 26 April and will include ‘Passejant amb Rusiñol’, a theatrical journey to the heart of art that encourages audiences to rediscover the work and thinking of one of the main figures in Catalan culture at the Teatre Casino Prado on Saturday 25 at 10.30 am; ‘Sitges en vers XIV’, a live music event held that same Saturday at 5 pm at the Auditori del Miramar – Centre Cultural; and the Castellera de Sant Jordi human tower-building event organised by Colla Jove de Castellers de Sitges in conjunction with the Castellers de Sants and Castellers de Castelldefels, scheduled for Sunday 26 April at 12 noon in Cap de la Vila.
