Legend has it that Ali, a Moorish slave, found the buried image of the Virgin as he was working the vineyards of his own, Mr Milà. When he showed Mr Milà the image, the decision was immediate: a sanctuary in honour of the Virgin of Vinyet would be built.

Since then, her popularity has only grown until becoming part of the emotional heritage shared by Sitges residents.

The entire day features a programme filled with religious, entertainment and cultural events, like a crafts fair around the Sanctuary and the sale of coca cakes and refreshments.
