Premiering in 1983 at the American Place Theatre in New York, "A... My Name is Alice" was crafted by Joan Micklin Silver and Julianne Boyd. Its triumph sparked numerous shows and two follow-ups, offering a humorous and authentic portrayal of women's experiences.

In line with difference feminism, the production celebrates the differences between genders, advocating for the acknowledgment of feminine values and experiences rather than a strict pursuit of equality.
