Exhibition: "Orange isn't Blue by Oliver Okolo
Oliver's work is inspired by a classic style of Renaissance art pioneers such as Michelangelo, fused almost seamlessly with a contemporary interpretation and twist through his portrayal of African themes. Intrigued by the complexities of the human figure as a unique work of nature, Oliver draws inspiration from the human form to represent works that express his views on issues he considers neglected and overlooked in society. Okolo works in many artistic mediums, but has a preference for oil on canvas, for the textures it creates. With a unique technique of combining his hyper-realistic heads, drawn in charcoal and painted on paper with more freely painted bodies, objects and backgrounds on canvas.
