Gay Pride Sitges celebrates its tenth anniversary this year and is now ranked among the top 5 Gay Prides in the world.
From June 1 to 10, more than 40.000 visitors will be attending this event during which hotel occupation is expected to be 100%. The 10 main nationalities of the public at last year’s edition were from: Spain, United Kingdom, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, United States, Italy and Sweden.
This year its protest slogan is #thefightcontinues, a catchphrase that will be present during the 80 plus events that make up the program and will be held free of charge and open to all in the "Gay Village" for 5 nights , in the heart of Sitges. These will include tributes to Cher, Dolly Parton, Tina Turner, Daft Punk and ABBA that will take place onstage nightly, in order to consolidate Sitges’ position as the number 1 Pride by the beach in Europe.
Daytime events include a Gay Beach Party at the Hola Beach Club, the POSEIDON party aboard the Sunsations Catamaran and two "pool parties" at the hosting hotel Ibersol Antemare. And for the first time the Festival will introduce reusable glasses.
This year's Sitges Gay Pride parade, scheduled for Sunday at 5:00 p.m., will feature a total of 20 floats and more than 2.000 participants of different nationalities.
In addition, the Cultural Pride promoted by Gay Sitges Link, will be organizing a series of cultural and social activities during the Sitges Pride, which include events that highlight Sitges’ artistic and cultural heritage, including a special guided tour of Sitges’ Museums or an artistic route to discover Sitges’ most important galleries.
To make the event more sustainable and following Biosphere Certification recommendations, this year all the glasses used in the Village will be recyclable.
