The Return of the Estrella Damm Ladies Open to Sitges Has Been Confirmed

The fourth edition of this Ladies European Tour tournament will be held from October 1st to 3rd at the Terramar Golf Club, although the players will be staying in Sitges starting from September 27th.

The Estrella Damm Ladies Open, a Ladies European Tour event, returns to the professional calendar. Its fourth edition will be played at the Club de Golf Terramar, from October 1 to 3, 2021, and will feature the best female golfers in the circuit at a venue that, in addition to offering a magnificent course, serves as a natural vantage point overlooking the Mediterranean. The Mayor of Sitges, Aurora Carbonell, expressed "the city's determination to continue supporting high-level sporting events and demonstrate that Sitges is a welcoming, dynamic city with the necessary facilities, spaces and equipment to host major international competitions and events.”

For the Sitges Town Councilman for Tourism, Luís Miguel García, "these events position the Sitges brand around the world, seeing as the Estrella Damm Ladies Open can be followed live in more than 100 countries all over the world and it has a very positive impact on making Sitges better known and attracting tourists and visitors.” The female athletes will also be staying in Sitges starting on September 27th, where they will be training and participating in other activities prior to the competition. The Councilor for Sports, Jaume Monasterio, emphasized "Sitges' support for women's sports, not only with this major event but also with others like the world championship for women's chess teams, which will take place on the same dates. Sitges will be the international capital of women's sports that weekend.”

After the tournament successfully took a big leap to social networks in 2020 to bridge the gap produced by the Covid-19 health emergency, live golf returns to the remodeled course at the Terramar Golf Club in Sitges, the venue that will crown a grand champion. In 2017, England's Florentyna Parker beat Sweden's Anna Nordqvist and Spain's Carlota Ciganda in a thrilling playoff to win the title, while in 2018 the Dutchwoman, Anne Van Dam, chalked up the first of her three triumphs on the Iberian Peninsula in Sitges. In 2019, it was Carlota Ciganda who took the victory after delivering a spectacular duel with the German Esther Henseleit. With this historic background, and with the roster of players that will meet at the Terramar Golf Club, both the spectators who decide to come to enjoy the action live, and those who resort to the television signal broadcast to more than 100 countries by the Ladies European Tour, will be delighted with a unique spectacle.

The arrival in its final stretch of the Race to Costa del Sol and the proximity of its outcome will be added attractions for both players and fans who have been following the evolution of this competition all year.
