Sitgestiu summons more than 50 musical proposals, heritage routes, workshops and exhibitions

The acts fill the agenda for the months of July and August

More than 50 cultural activities fill the Sitges Museums' agenda in July and August thanks to the Sitgestiu 2019 program. Classical, jazz, opera, visits to the Maricel Palace, Full Moon Evenings at Maricel, Taste the Sitges of the Fishermen, children's workshops and exhibitions make up a billboard featuring 22 concerts, 23 heritage routes, 4 children's workshops and 6 exhibitions.

Sitgestiu 2019 begins this week with musical recitals. Tomorrow, Tuesday, Cau Ferrat is once again adapting to the jazz scene to receive the Retrio group, which will adapt pieces of local popular culture at a jazz and swing pace. Jazz at the Cau will be on the billboard every Tuesday until August 27.

On Thursdays, on the other hand, it is the turn of the Classical at the Racó, with six concerts on July 11 (Quartet Toldrà), July 18 (Ayelén Mose), July 25 (Antón & Maite Piano Duo), 1 August (Lalit Worathepnitinan), August 8 (Quartet Altimira) and August 29 (Yeani Lee). Music also has another set day on the Sitgestiu 2019 agenda on Sundays, with pocket opera recitals at the Golden Hall of Maricel Palace. This year two operas have been programmed Cavalleria Rusticana (July 14 and 21, August 4 and September 1) and Madama Butterfly (July 28, 11, 18 and 25 August). In both cases, the functions will be represented by the Small Lyric Company of Barcelona.

In addition to music, Sitgestiu 2019 brings an important role to the heritage routes, through three different activities: the visits to the Maricel Palace, the Full Moon Evening at Maricel and Taste the Sitges of the Fishermen..

Visits to the Palace begin this Thursday and will take place on various dates in July (11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27) and August (1, 2, 3, 8, 15). , 17, 22, 29, 30 and 31). Maricel is also the scene of the Full Moon Evening, a tour of the interiors of the Palace and the Museum on the two nights of  full moon (Wednesday, July 17 and Friday, August 16), while the third proposal (Taste the Sitges of the Fishermen) joins Sitgestiu this year, after having successfully premiered at the last International Museum Day program. This is a journey through the works with marine evocations of the Maricel Museum, as well as other outdoor spaces of the center of Sitges until arriving at Can Falç, where participants will taste a typical dish of our fishermen. This act is done jointly with the Fishermen's Association of Sitges.

Children also have their space in the Sitgestiu program with two workshops: The Harlequin's suit (July 10 and 24), where the youngest will make a new creation from Picasso's emblematic painting that is exhibited at Maricel and La Festa Major on your T-shirt (7 and 14 d. August), in which the participants will be able to paint a T-shirt with motifs of Festa Major.

The Sitgestiu 2019 program also includes the exhibitions of Sitges Museums this summer: Realism in Catalonia (1917-1936), in the Maricel Museum, and the permanent collection of the Stämpfli Foundation, as well as the Miramar Cultural Center organized by the Department of Culture (Gin and Mingote: Doors of the Ave Maria Foundation; Anna Monzó's Multi-universe ; Marga Miret’s orchids and fishes, and Esse by Albert Llobet).
