The Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open, an event with the highest level of media and tourism impact

It has been declared an event of special relevance by the Sitges Town Hall. The competition will be held at the Terramar Golf Club between September 26th and 29th

The Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open, a competition that is a part of the Ladies European Tour and that will take place between September 26th and 29th at the Terramar Golf Club, has been declared an event of special relevance by the City of Sitges, where the headquarters of this important tournament are located, and which will bring together the best golfers from around the European continent.

 

This statement responds, among other things, to the important media and tourism impact generated by holding this competition, which makes Sitges the epicenter of European golf in the image and likeness of what took place at the first two editions.

 

Aurora Carbonell and Abella, Mayor of Sitges, finds that “The Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open is a top level international professional women's golf tournament that generates a direct economic impact for the town of more than 300,000 euros. The players, their families, caddies, the staff of the organization and the press all come together at this sporting event, which means that over 300 people travel to our town and this has a positive impact on it with more than 2,000 overnight stays. In addition, this tournament is held at the end of September, immediately following the highest tourist season. ”

 

The Mayor of Sitges also reports that “the forecast is that a public of 5,000 people will be attending and it will have a huge media impact thanks to the 50 accredited media outlets that are expected. This tournament contributes to positioning Sitges as a destination that hosts major international events.” In addition, Iñigo Aramburu, the tournament’s promoter, confirms that “the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open is a top quality event, a perfect showcase to highlight and disseminate the benefits of golf and those that this beautiful Barcelonian town of has to offer, which are many, and all with a women's tournament of the highest level.”

 

The competition will be broadcast by TV3, Andalucía TV, Movistar Golf and Teledeporte, offering recaps of the most interesting aspects of the game on Thursday and Friday and three hours a day live during the Saturday and Sunday rounds, ending in the last two cases at 3:00 p.m. Additionally, the Ladies European Tour production company will be in charge of disseminating the images on 13 television networks in 57 countries, although the ‘highlights’ will increase its coverage to 90 countries. In order to favor the presence of the public during the four days of competition - from Thursday September 26th to Sunday 29th – admission to attend the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open will be free of charge.
