A dozen proposals to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Dona-Art en Femenino Festival
The 5th edition of the Mujer - Arte en femenino Festival kicks off this Friday, 1 September, at the Casino Prado in Sitges with a wide range of proposals from different artistic arts. The programme features music, dance, theatre, audiovisual, literature and gastronomy performances. The concert by singer Mariona Escoda, the monologue by comedian Charlie Pee and the show 'Woman' are some of the main attractions of the event.
The play 'Besties', starring the actress Marta Marco, opens the programme of the Festival Dona-Art en Femenino at 9 p.m. in the Salón Teatro del Casino Prado. This play, by Monica Dolan, premiered at this year's Grec Festival, explains how far a mother is willing to go to get her daughter to get what she wants.
The second day of the festival, Saturday 2 September, will feature the large-format show 'Woman' by Aaron Vivancos, which shows the empowerment of women through dance, music, audiovisuals and costumes.
This will be the only proposal on Saturday because there has been a change in the programme due to the rainy weather forecast and the concert by Dàmaris Gelabert and the 25th anniversary tour, which was scheduled for this Saturday (2 September at 6 p.m. in the organisation's gardens), has been postponed until Saturday, 30 September, at 12 p.m. at the Teatre Prado. Tickets already purchased are valid for this new concert. If you are unable to attend, please contact the organisation at comunicacio@casinoprado.cat and the tickets will be refunded and cancelled.
On Sunday, 3 September, a final change has also been made due to the weather forecast, the vermouth concert by the singer Scorpio has changed location, and instead of being held in the organisation's gardens, it will be held in the organisation's Theatre Hall at the same time, at 12:30 pm. Scorpio, known from the TV3 programme Euforia, will perform as part of the Vermut Musical, accompanied by the Sitges dancer and queen of Carnival 2021, Sol Queralt.
On this third day (Sunday, 3 September), the Catalan comedian and one of the leading figures in Catalan stand-up, Charlie Pee, will also take to the stage of the Prado Theatre to perform her monologue 'Mamasita'.
The comedian and scriptwriter of the programme "La resistencia" on Movistar+ and presenter of "La última hora de la mañana de Catalunya Ràdio" will make the audience laugh with her first solo show.
On Friday 8 September (8.30 p.m. Teatro Casino Prado) the play 'Una luz tímida' will be performed, a love story of two female teachers during Franco's dictatorship. This musical by África Alonso Bada and Andrea Puig Doria is directed by Marilia Samper and stars África Alonso herself and Júlia Jové.
The concert by the singer Mariona Escoda, winner of the TV3 programme Euforia 2022, will close the Festival Dona-Art en Femenino on Sunday 10 September. Her repertoire will range from pop-rock songs to ballads and more danceable tunes, among others.
The Dona-Art en Femenino Festival is organised by the Casino Prado with the collaboration of Sitges Town Council.
Feminine gastronomy and Femifilms
On Thursday 7 September, a talk on gastronomy will be given by the Catalan chef Ada Parellada at 7 p.m. in the Jofre Vilà conference room. Then, at 8 p.m., the awards ceremony of the second edition of Gastronomía en femenino, organised by the Casino Prado Suburense together with the Sitges Hotel and Catering Guild, will take place. The awards are intended to value the best professionals in the sector who work in Sitges restaurants. In this second edition the competition has a seasonal tasting format and can be tasted from 1 to 17 September.
On Friday 8th, as part of the second edition of the Femifilms competition, international short films in a female key can be seen. From 5 p.m. in the Sala d'Actes Jofre Vilà there will be a screening of the finalist short films in the competition categories: National, International, Animation, Documentary and Purple.
On Saturday 9 September (in the Sala de Actos Jofre Vilà), audiovisuals will continue to be present at the Festival Mujer with Femifilms, the second short film competition for women, organised by Médicos del mundo, scannerFM and the Casino Prado.
The screening of the finalists in each category will resume at 11 a.m. in the auditorium. From 5 pm there will be a masterclass followed by a round table with professionals from the audiovisual sector. At 8 p.m. there will be the Femifilms Awards Gala at the Prado Theatre.
