From 5 to 9 June Sitges Pride expects to welcome more than 45.000 people
Sitges Pride is coming to its thirteenth edition from 5 to 9 June with the expectation of more than 45.000 people in Sitges to take part in the events organised during these five days. This event has been ranked as one of the top 5 LGBTIQA+ Pride events in the world by CNN, National Geographic, among others, and has recently been ranked by the travel guide Lonely Planet as one of the 12 best places to celebrate Pride in Europe.
This year’s Sitges Parade, under the slogan #sitgeslovesyou, invites visitors to showcase the “True Colours” and claim Sitges as a haven for the LGBTIQA+ community and a welcoming destination.
The highlight of the event will be the Parade, the Pride Parade, which will take place on Sunday, June 9, at 5 p.m. on Passeig de La Ribera. The tour will feature 19 floats and more than 2.000 participants to claim equality and the rights of the collective. The starting point will be from the outside of the Kansas restaurant towards the Fragata and back along the Passeig de la Ribera to reach the Hotel Calipolis with Avenida Sofia.
According to the organisation, the event is expected to register almost 100% occupancy in hotels and apartments in Sitges.
Programming
AFGAL, the organizing association of Sitges Pride, has presented this Thursday the official programme for the 2024 edition, which will feature more than 60 artists on the main stage during the five days of Pride.
The program with more than 45 free events will take place on the Passeig de la Ribera with a very important musical component. Cultural events, exhibitions, networking and conferences will take place in parallel with the festivities during the day and night. Every afternoon there will be free shows and concerts at the Passeig de la Ribera starting at 8 p.m.
Throughout the event, the Pride Village will host concerts and tributes to singers such as Tina Turner, Madonna, Cher, Raffaela Carrà, Pink and groups such as Roxette, ABBA, Black Eyed Peas and BackStreet Boys. The village will be located on Passeig de la Ribera opposite the Hotel Calipolis.
Among the program highlights the night of Friday, June 7 at 10 p.m. in which Plataforma por la Llengua will offer a show by Alex Marteen.
Drag Up Your life
The Sitges Pride events begin on Wednesday with “Drag Up Your Life”, a five-hour festival featuring the best drag queens in the world and a poster of stars. International drag queens who will perform include Portia De Fosse, Ember, Karla Bear and Mary Mac.
High heel race
The Sitges Heel Race returns to the Pride Village on Saturday 8 June starting at 5 p.m. with more than 50 participants competing for first place through a circuit with obstacles and fun tests.
Photo contest on Instagram
A public vote will be held to select the most original photos of Sitges Pride attendees and to tag their favourite Pride photo with #sitgestruecolours on Instagram. The top 10 snapshots chosen from a popular vote will win multiple prizes and will be displayed on the LED screens of the main stage throughout the holidays.
Culture, activism and solidarity
The LGBTIQA+ Colors Sitges Link (CSL) association is organising a programme of cultural and health activities for Sitges Pride 2024, which will take place from 3 to 15 June. Among the proposals highlights: a marathon of rapid tests for HIV, syphilis, Hepatitis C, chlamydia and gonorrhea; the photographic exhibition entitled "Itinerantas: vivo con VIH y..." at the Santiago Rusiñol Library; workshops, poetic vermouths and talks such as the talk-presentation of the guide "LGTBQué?" by Emilio López; the talk “Realidades Trans” with Candy Brightman, and the talk “Y tú... ¿cómo sabes que no eras TRANS??” with Valentina Berr and Gemma Polo.

EAT WITH PRIDE - ARC DE SANT MARTÍ RESTAURANT ROUTE
This year, Sitges Pride together with the Gremi d'Hostaleria de Sitges have teamed up to create a new and unique “Ruta de Restaurants Arc de Sant Martí”, showing restaurants that support the event and the collective.
