The town’s hoteliers and restaurateurs have also implemented actions related to the current health crisis. Emblematic hotels have become medicalized hotels or reception areas for homeless people, and the catering sector has offered food for healthcare providers, among other initiatives.
Small companies connected to the field of sports are offering free online classes for the benefit of the community and local artists are sharing their talent for all those who want to join in through social networks.
Companies from all sectors and individuals have donated materials these days and have offered their services to the Sitges Town Council to collaborate in this Coronavirus crisis that has forced all citizens to act not only individually but, above all, collectively, responsibly and in a spirit of solidarity.
These collaborations are also added to actions such as donations of electronic devices (cell phones and tablets) prepared for educational uses and allocated for families who don’t have any.
And so, while the tourist season is unable to get underway, Sitges devotes time and effort during this impasse to one of the values that is also stressed by the Biosphere Certification, which understands Sustainability as a territorial and social balance.
