Sitges, the harvest by the sea
At the end of August, the grape harvest begins from our vineyards of Malvasia de Sitges, a harvest that was traditionally late, to obtain the sweetest grapes and that brings us a celebration of our own, the Harvest Festival.
Sitges is a seaside village, open to the sea, with lots of light, cheerful, blue and white. But what many people don't know is that Sitges is also a village of green land, vineyards, farmers who cultivated to get the best harvest of grapes. For many years it was acclaimed for the quality of its Malvasia wines drunk by European nobles, that it had a market economy open to the world thanks to the export of wines and that in the 70s and 80s it had up to 60 wineries in its alleys on the way to the sea.
And in the month of September, as an anniversary that comes punctually every year, we celebrate the Festa de la Vendimia, a feast in honor of our vineyards, wines and the past. The Harvest in Sitges takes place over a whole weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday you will find different events where the main character is wine.
