A wine that is only produced in Sitges
We have our own wine. Like no other in the world. Its name comes from the variety of grape with which it is made: Malvasia.
Its particular taste is not only determined by the variety of grape, but also by the late grape harvest, the high standard, the acidity and obviously, its proximity to the sea.
The result is a golden wine, dominated by fresh fruit (peach, apricot, pear and melon), with floral hints and a touch of Mediterranean herbs.
Finca Viladellops
Viladellops, a small rural estate. The climate, the terrain and the history of this place are the basis for the Finca Viladellops project, whose wines aim to portray the personality of the Garraf mountain range with its calcareous and clay-like terrain, formed by low mountains, starting at the sea and reaching 500 metres in height.
The current winery dates back to 1877, whilst the traditional production of wine in casks was maintained until 1980. In 1999 it decided to shift towards modern viticulture and designed a 100% Mediterranean wine-making project for the Finca Viladellops, based on the varieties indigenous to the area: Xarel·lo and Garnacha.
From the year 2006, the vineyards received organic agriculture certification and our wine is currently organic and contains increasingly low levels of sulphur.
Our wine is typical of the Garraf mountain range, with mineral hints of iodine in the white wine and gypsum in the red wine, as well as the incorporation of typical herbs from the area: fennel, thyme and rosemary. The wines are delicate, elegant and harmonious, with sweet tannins whilst being fresh on the palate.
