Barraques de Sitges füllen La Fragata mit Musik vom 14. bis 16. August
Barraques de Sitges has announced the line-up for its 12th edition, to be held at La Fragata on 14, 15 and 16 August, with Buhos, Lendakaris Muertos, Crim and Maruja Limón as the headline acts. The organisers are sticking with La Fragata as the venue, an iconic space in Sitges, and the formula of free admission, with the festival expected to attract some 10,000 people over three days. At the same time, Barraques de Sitges renews its commitment with national music and highlights women's presence in 50% of the participating formations.
Local talent also has its place at the 2025 edition of Barraques, with the charanga sound of the Zebrass Marching Band getting the festival under way on 14 August with a procession around different organisations taking everybody to Plaça de La Fragata. The cover-version group Kintus will also be playing, and Dadson PD’s. Besides local groups, the programme for Barraques also features groups with artists born in Sitges, as is the case with Buhos. The group is one of the main attractions in the Barraques programme for this summer. This will be the sixth time the group have taken part in the festival, on top of the times they have played as part of the town’s annual festival. After nearly twenty years, and with over 1,500 concerts under their belt, the group continue to demonstrate their festive nature and authenticity on stage. Barraques will be the only date in the whole summer when the group will be performing in the Penedès area.
Barraques de Sitges 2025 features the Valencian group Jazzwoman, and Pitxorines, from the Balearic Islands, with traditional folk opting for songs sung in Catalan. From the Basque country, the historical punk-rock band Lendakaris Muertos will also be playing. The band are retiring from the stage at the end of the year and this performance in Sitges is their only one of the summer in Catalonia.
The line-up is completed with the powerful live sound of Maruja Limón, the punk rock of Crim, Remei de Ca La Fresca and the reggae of Mataró’s Boom Boom Fighters. To get everybody involved, the festival also features groups offering cover versions such as Akelarre, a women’s group that covers songs by women; plus DJ Lo Puto Cat, retiring from the stage this year after ten years of success; DJ K-ZU and DJ CEBA, a regular on the Sitges stage over the years.
As ever, the organisers also opt for music for little ones (and no so little ones), with Pessigolles, the first all-women group to cater for family audiences. This concert will be held under the name of “Barraquetes”.
