La Pregonera is once again announcing a year full of culture in Sitges. The 2026 lineup, organised by the Councillor’s Office for Culture at Sitges City Council in collaboration with Casino Prado Suburense, Museus de Sitges, Societat Recreativa El Retiro and libraries, among many other cultural stakeholders, is the result of joint work involving creators, cultural venues and local associations.

La Pregonera 2026 is presenting a wide-ranging list of fifty-some cultural activities open to all, embracing everything from theatre to music, dance, exhibitions and traditional culture throughout the year. One of the highlights of this edition is the emergence of the Escorxador-Centre d’Arts Vives as a new municipal performance space designed for small-scale shows, where audiences can enjoy engaging, immersive artistic experiences.

“We’re embracing this space because it can transform and adapt to each activity,” says Albert Oliver-Rodés, the city councillor for culture. “It’s the perfect space for small-scale shows, with audiences right up close to the action. It’s a place for gathering, for meeting, and for living and breathing culture, with a special spotlight on works by talented creators 35 and younger as part of our Cicló <35 series on Thursdays. Ultimately, the programme spans a wide range of events, allowing everyone to enjoy culture, which will always be a priority for Sitges, in their own way.”

“Casino Prado remains committed to offering a robust, professional programme throughout the year,” says Carme Artigas, president of Casino Prado. “We’ll have plays that will make us laugh, others that will make us think deeply and a few that will present major figures from Catalan culture, such as Gaudí and Rusiñol. Not to mention stand-up comedy and even a podcast. We’ll also continue holding our traditional evenings in the gardens, the Festival DONA - Art in the Feminine and the Josep Vadell Autumn Memorial Series. A new series this year is Thursdays at the Prado, an initiative that seeks to spread out activities over the week and offer a regular cultural alternative on Thursdays bringing together theatre, film screenings and opera.”

“The programme of events at Museus de Sitges is fully keeping in the spirit of La Pregonera: a shared, open, collaborative approach to culture,” says Txema Romero, director of the Consorci del Patrimoni de Sitges. “That’s why we’re also launching the Arts Laboratory, which takes a new approach to the role of museums in Sitges’s cultural life, seeing them as spaces for experimentation, engagement, well-being and socialisation. As for exhibitions, one of the highlights is ‘Presències i absències. Els artistes de Deering a la Col·lecció d’Art Banc de Sabadell’ [Presences and Absences. Deering Artists in Banc Sabadell’s Art Collection], which revisits the original Maricel project while reconstructing absences and creating new interpretations of the past, as well as the ‘Noves adquisicions per a nous relats’ [New Acquisitions for New Stories] small-scale exhibitions highlighting diverse, contemporary and inclusive perspectives.”

La Pregonera 2026 is now available at www.culturasitges.cat. You can also find the print edition at municipal facilities including libraries, tourism information offices, the OAC public assistance sites and Miramar-Centre Cultural.

CICLÓ <35

The Cicló <35 series is going into its second edition this 2026 with a clear commitment to youth creativity. This performing arts and music series featuring creators 35 and under will offer top-quality shows on Thursdays at 8 pm throughout winter and spring, when cultural events are scarce.

The programme seeks to encourage young people to engage with culture, both as creators and as audience members, and supports the city’s goal of bringing new audiences into theatres and spotlighting new voices on the contemporary scene.

The 2026 lineup includes four works: Nit de comèdia, with stand-up by Norbert Palazón and Àlex Vila (Thursday 29 January); Per lo mudable, a multidisciplinary piece exploring the relationship between the city (nightclubs, tourists, asphalt) and poetry (26 February); an acoustic concert in duo format by acclaimed Valencian artist Sandra Monfort (Thursday 12 March), and finally, the Folk as Queer dance piece (Thursday 9 April), which seeks a meeting point between traditional bodies and dissident bodies.

MORE EVENTS AND TRADITIONAL CULTURE

La Pregonera 2026 is complemented by Sitges’s festive/cultural calendar, which includes events such as Carnival, the town’s festa major (main annual festival), Santa Tecla, Festival DONA-Art in the Feminine, the Poetry Festival, the 48H Open House, Malvasia Week, Barraques and the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.

These events further establish Sitges as a culturally engaged town committed to culture 365 days a year.
