Sitges Pride will once again take to the streets from 4 to 8 June

City Council is organising a series of cultural activities as part of Sitges Pride, including a musical performance and family shows, with the goal of strengthening its commitment to diversity and celebrating the LGBTIQA+ community

The fourteenth edition of Sitges Pride is just around the corner. Five days of events will be taking place from 4 to 8 June, with over 45,000 people expected to attend. This Friday, AFGAL, the association organising the activities, presented the official programme of events for the 2025 edition, which will see over 50 artists take to the main stage on Passeig de la Ribera, the “Pride Village”. There will also be cultural, recreational, festive and advocacy events to celebrate the LGBTIQA+ community and promote values such as respect and inclusion. Sitges Pride has been ranked by CNN, Passport Magazine, GayCities and National Geographic as one of the 5 best LGBTQIA+ pride events in the world. According to the organisation, city hotels and apartments expect to be at near full capacity.

This year, Sitges City Council is hosting its own programme of its cultural activities, Orgull Sitges, at the Pride Village. The goal is to strengthen its commitment to diversity and the rights of this community in cultural and family settings. The activities include the opening speech, which will officially kick off Sitges Pride on Wednesday 4 June at 9:30 p.m. on the Pride stage. This year’s special opening speaker is journalist and communicator Víctor Sandoval, a leading figure in the community who also has close ties to Sitges. On Thursday 5 June at 9 p.m. it’ll be time for a performance by MoMo from Vilanova, a popular local singer who is well known for her powerful voice and charisma; and on Saturday 7 June there will be an afternoon full of family activities starting at 4:30 p.m., with the “Família Botons” [Button Family] creative workshop to introduce little ones to the diversity of love, and a magic show by illusionist Judith Trilirí.

These activities seek to complement Pride from a cultural, inclusive perspective. “Sitges Pride is much more than a party; it’s a rallying cry for freedom, diversity and rights for all,” says Sitges mayor Aurora Carbonell. “In addition to the activities we’re organising in the Village, the Department of Social Rights, Equality and City Residents has also been working on the Orgull Sitges programme and will host cultural and community events throughout the month to connect with city residents of all ages. We’re committed to an inclusive city where everyone feels welcome and represented. Pride belongs to all of us, because here in Sitges, love comes in all colours.”

“These initiatives seek to reinforce the city’s commitment to LGBTIQA+ rights from a cross-cutting perspective, bringing together culture, community and responsible tourism,” says Xavi Ripoll, the city councillor for tourism. “Sitges is renowned worldwide for its diversity, but it also has to be an international standard-bearer for its inclusive, transformative policies. We’re working with the organisers and the other organisations to make Pride a space for visibility, but also education and community for all.”

“This is our most ambitious edition yet,” says AFGAL president Luís Enríquez. “With 5 days, 45,000 visitors and 50 live performances, we can truly say that we represent culture, activism and celebration. We’re leaders.”

The Pride Day celebrations will conclude with the City Council ceremony on 27 June, which will include the reading of the official manifesto at 6 p.m. in Plaça Indústria followed by a sardana orgullosa (a Pride-themed take on the traditional sardana dance) performed by Treu La Llengua de l’Armari, which promotes the use of Catalan in the LGBTIQA+ community.

Programme

The highlight of the event will come on 8 June at 5 p.m. on Passeig de la Ribera, with a Pride Parade featuring 21 floats and over 2,000 participants calling for equality and rights for the community. The parade will take off from Kansas restaurant, head towards La Fragata and then return along Passeig de la Ribera until it reaches Hotel Calipolis at the corner of Avinguda Sofia.  Before the parade, there will be a sardana orgullosa organised by Plataforma per la Llengua.

Over the course of the event, the Pride Village will host over 50 free live performances, concerts and tributes to singers such as Whitney Houston, Pink, Cher, Rihanna, ABBA and Robbie Williams. On Saturday 7 June, there will be a performance by special guest Sylvia Pantoja, who blends flamenco roots with pop and Latin rhythms. The Village will be located on Passeig de la Ribera in front of Hotel Calipolis.

One of the major events will take place on the night of Wednesday 4 June: “Drag Domination”, a five-hour celebration with some of the world’s top drag artists, such as Karla Bear, Drag With No Name, Mary Mac and Lady Diamond. Another star event will be the High-Heel Race, which will be back at Pride Village on Saturday 7 June starting at 6:30 p.m. Over 50 participants will compete for first place in an obstacle course full of fun challenges.

Local LGBTQIA+ businesses will also be organising parties and special events during the five days of Pride.

Organisations committed to culture, activism and solidarity

The Colors Sitges Link (CSL) LGBTIQA+ association is hosting a programme of cultural, educational and activism-based events for Sitges Pride 2025, featuring cinema, workshops, theatre and conversations about visibility, health and intergenerational connections. Events include Aquelarre, a queer poetry gathering; a flower carpet for Corpus Christi 2025; a cultural outing to the Mostra Fire! cinema festival and the presentation of Ian Bermúdez’s book Toca’m a les fosques [Touch Me in the Dark]. The organisation will also join the Sitges Pride Parade for the first time with a defiant activist float.

On Saturday night, the Sitges Pride stage will host the unveiling of the poster for this year’s edition of the Endimaris Sitges LGTBIQ+ Film Festival. The festival, which will take place in late October, showcases the best national and international productions on LGTBIQ+ themes.

Plataforma per la Llengua will be participating in Sitges Pride for the second year in a row, celebrating Catalan as a language of celebration, advocacy and pride. On Friday 6 June, it will present a performance by Barcelona-based divo Alex Marteen.
