Sitges Vela Clàssica kehrt in den Port de Sitges zurück – mit einer Flotte, die Geschichte, Eleganz und das Mittelmeer vereint
After a highly celebrated fourth edition that was part of the fiftieth anniversary of the Port de Sitges-Aiguadolç, the 2026 event is coming with the goal of expanding its sports, cultural and social impact. The fleet will once again feature vessels that are a living part of the history of sailing, with names like Islander, Bakea, Nerissa, Ping XV, Izarra and Sea Fever, among other sail boats that will turn the Garraf port and coastline into a prime classic sailing showcase.
Over the course of three days, the public can come to the Port de Sitges to see the vessels up close, learn about the ambiance of the crews and discover a maritime heritage that combines the profession, design, wood, bronze, canvas and many miles of sea. It's not just a competition: Sitges Vela Clàssica is also an invitation to look at the coastline with new eyes, to revive the city’s seafaring memory and to celebrate Sitges's long-standing relationship with the Mediterranean.
The regattas can be watched both from the Port de Sitges and different points along the city's coastline, which will serve as a natural amphitheatre. If conditions allow it, the coastal routes will be particularly beautiful: classic sail boats plying Sitges’s seafront with the silhouette of Sant Bartomeu as the backdrop.
One of the most anxiously awaited moments will be the parade of vessels on Sunday 5 July at 11.30 am, a unique chance for residents, families, visitors and fans of the sea to see the fleet all together enjoying open, festive sailing. The image of the boats leaving the Port de Sitges and sailing in front of the town aims to become one of the prime postcards embodying the Sitges summer.
Plus, the regatta is also committed to heritage preservation. Every participating vessel tells a story: the story of its designers, shipbuilders, shipowners and crews; the story of the restorations that have saved historical hulls; and the story of a way of sailing that focuses on technique, patience and respect for the sea.
With this new edition, Sitges is enhancing its role as a meeting point for classic sail boats in the western Mediterranean. Therefore, the organisers encourage all citizens to come to the port on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and enjoy the atmosphere, discover the fleet and adopt a regatta that aims to grow with the engagement of everyone in Sitges.
