Duo Herzando was founded in 2024 at the University of Performing Arts in Munich. The duo brings together two musicians with diverse backgrounds and cultural backgrounds: Russian flautist Aleksandr Tian and Chinese guitarist Shenghao Liu. The name Herzando is a creative fusion of the German word Herz (heart) and the Italian musical term Sforzando, and reflects the expressiveness and energy with which they perform their music. In May 2024, they were selected as candidates for 'LIVE MUSIC NOW' Munich, an initiative of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, which supports them in offering regular concerts in Bavaria, Germany. Under the mastery of pianist Debora Halasz, the Herzando Duo was awarded second prize in the "Juan Gual Esteve" Chamber Music Competition (Flute and Guitar) and third prize in the Mirabent and Magrans Competition in Sitges, Barcelona.
