Correllengua 2023
The Correllengua is an annual event that is held simultaneously throughout the Catalan territory and each year chooses a personality linked to Catalan culture (last year it was Joan Fuster) to pay homage to. Parallel to a protest manifesto that is read throughout the territory, each municipality organizes concerts, activities for children and other proposals.
The twenty-seventh edition of Correllengua is dedicated to the figure of Joan Brossa, the most important Catalan avant-garde poet of the second half of the 20th century.
As the driving force behind the Correllengua, the Coordinadora d'Associacions per la Llengua Catalana (CAL) aims, through the life and work of the author, to vindicate the language, culture and aspirations of the Catalan people, as well as exalt the legacy of Brossa's work.
The CAL has prepared a Dossier for Schools and a Correllengua Guide full of resources for the organizers of the Correllengua, where they can find tools and proposals for their respective events. The Poster, the Exhibition and the Manifesto, which this year was drawn up by the actress Carme Sansa, have also been made available to everyone.
The initial event of Correllengua 2023 took place at the Center for Liberal Arts of the Joan Brossa Foundation on April 15. To carry out the day, we had the collaboration of the Foundation, with whom we worked together to make the start of Correllengua 2023 as special as possible, and there is no better place to pay tribute to the author that in the place where his legacy and memory are preserved from the present and in all creative aspects, being at the same time, a center where the arts are transgressed. At the Foundation, in addition to preserving and promoting the interdisciplinary and transgressive spirit of its production, the space is sought to be the home of contemporary creation dedicated to experimentation, to the study of new expressive languages, to exhibition and disclosure.
The day was attended by several guests related to the Catalan language and culture, as well as representatives of CAL and the Joan Brossa Foundation. Glòria Bordons, an expert on Joan Brossa, contextualized the figure of the author and his commitment to the territory and the Catalan language. Memory School and Carles Rebassa, on the other hand, enlivened the day with their respective shows. Later, attendees were able to visit the "Other Brosses" exhibition.
