Rodin, Klee, Matisse, Picabia, Picasso, Dalí, Fortuny and Miró enter the Maricel Museum
The ground floor of the Maricel Museum puts the red carpet to receive the works of some of the most important and well recognised artists of the second half of the 19th and the first haff the 20th centuries. Names such as Marià Fortuny, Auguste Rodin, Edgar Degas, Joaquín Sorolla, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Francis Picabia, Paul Klee, Joaquín Torres García, Joaquim Sunyer, Juan Gris, Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró, among others, presided the exhibition From Modernisme to the Avant garde.. Drawings of the Mapfre collections , which will be inaugurated on March 28 and can be seen until June 23.
From Modernism to the Avant-garde. Drawings from the Mapfre Foundation collection presents a careful selection of 47 drawings from the Mapfre collections and offers a vision of the international artistic scene of the late nineteenth century and the first half of the XX, both in Catalonia and Spain as in other parts of the continent.
This is the first time that this collection arrives in Catalonia. Previously, it has been exhibited at the Picasso Foundation in Malaga, the Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, the Cervantes Institute in New York, the National Museum of Art in Mexico and the Baas Museum of Art in Miami, among other locations. The collection of drawings and heritage of the Mapfre Foundation is one of the most important private collections of the State. It is a living collection, created in 1997 and growing year after year.
The works arrived yesterday from Madrid and in the next days will be the beginning of the assembly. The exhibition will occupy the ground floor of the Maricel Museum, which in the last months has hosted the exhibition of the centenary of Maricel. The exhibition From Modernism to the Avant garde..
