A weekend of Christmas events featuring music and activities for children
This weekend, Sitges will be hosting a wide range of events and Christmas activities for the whole family. The schedule is full of tradition, music and family fun. The Christmas Park, in the Pavelló Pins Vens, will once again be open from 28 December to 5 January, with inflatables, workshops, shows, crafts and games for little ones. Opening hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., except for 31 December and 5 January, when it will only be open in the morning. Tickets cost €4 for a half day, and €6 for a full day. The opening party will take place this Saturday 28th at 6:30 p.m. with workshops and a human tower performance by the Colla Jove de Castellers de Sitges. Bring the littlest members of the family for a fun and educational time!
Also on Saturday 28th, the Jofre Vilà auditorium in the Casino Prado will be hosting a performance of the children’s show El porquet que volia veure el món des de dalt [The Little Pig Who Wanted to See the World from Above]. This Chinese shadow puppet show is full of emotions, poetry and values such as overcoming challenges and achieving personal goals. It also addresses respect, compassion, understanding and proper treatment of animals, who not only keep us company but also teach us many important lessons. The show starts at 6 p.m., and you can already get your tickets here for €5.
On Sunday 29th the Suburband del Retiro’s New Year’s concert will be taking place at 12 noon, under the baton of Meritxell Tarragó. Sunday activities will continue at 6 p.m. with a musical evening at the Parròquia de Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla, featuring maestro Manuel Torrens i Girona’s Rosari Pastoril and songs by Sitges composers performed by the Cor dels Amics de l’Orgue choir, directed by Maria Neus Ibáñez and with Francesc Pi on the organ. Tickets are free.
Over the weekend, anyone who wants to can stop by the Casino Prado or El Reitro to play quinto bingo, a deeply rooted tradition in Sitges. The game will be held at Casino Prado on Saturday and Sunday from 9 p.m. to midnight, and at El Retiro only on Sunday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Admission to both venues is free.
And remember that on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., you can take a ride around Sitges on the Christmas Train. This transport service, free during the Christmas holidays, takes riders on a tour through the centre of the city, starting and ending at La Fragata.
Sitges City Council invites everyone to participate in a festive programme of activities that brings together entertainment and culture, celebrating local traditions and the Christmas spirit.
