City Council launches the Christmas Train

The Councillor’s Office for Public Spaces has launched a free transport service for the Christmas season. The goal is to encourage city residents to enjoy the Christmas spirit in the city and promote local shops and restaurants.

Sitges City Council is launching the Trenet de Nadal (Christmas Train), a free service that will travel throughout the city during the holiday season to offer a different, magical experience for everyone. This Christmas initiative is an opportunity to discover Sitges from another perspective, by boarding a train full of Christmas cheer.

For the Christmas season, the tourist train that usually goes around Sitges will be decked out in Christmas decorations and will be free of charge. With room for 60 people, it will run at the weekends in December and at the start of January, always on an evening schedule, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Riders can get on and off at La Fragata, and then travel through the centre of the city, going up Passeig de la Ribera and along Carrer de Bassa Rodona, Passeig de Vilanova and Passeig Vilafranca, before reaching Avinguda del Camí dels Capellans. The return trip will also be along Passeig Vilanova, up to Avinguda Sofía, and then along Passeig Marítim until it reaches La Fragata. It’s a single route with no stops.

The train is more than an original and fun way of experiencing Christmas in Sitges; it also helps support local shops, restaurants and the festive atmosphere throughout the city. This magical ride combines the fun of travelling with the Christmas spirit that’s filling the streets.
