The most important architecture festival in the Barcelona metropolitan area invites visitors to discover 14 spaces in Sitges with unique architectural value.
The 17th edition of the 48h Open House BCN architecture festival comes to Sitges on 24 and 25 October, offering guided tours of 14 locations. The festival is a free, open-to-everyone cultural event, with no tickets on sale. Its aim is to open doors that are usually closed, but above all to spark conversations about architecture, the city and how the spaces around Sitges are inhabited and transformed.
Sitges Councillor for Culture Albert Oliver-Rodés highlights that “Sitges’s participation in 48h Open House BCN is an opportunity to bring the town’s architectural heritage closer to the public and showcase its diversity and distinctive character. The 14 locations included in the festival allow visitors to discover buildings and structures from different styles and periods, as well as explore Sitges’s history through its architecture”.
The 14 spaces that can be visited in Sitges are Escola Pia, Santiago Rusiñol Library, Casa a la Plana, Casa Josep Planes Robert, the beach huts in Garraf (advance booking required), Casino Prado Suburense, Sant Sebastià Cemetery, Fundació Stämpfli, Mercat Vell, Hotel Casa Vilella, Hotel Romànic, sculptor Pere Jou’s workshop, the Americanos houses (advance booking required) and the buildings of Sitges Antic (advance booking required).
