Das Tourismusbüro des Stadtrats startet ein neues Projekt zur Förderung der Sektoren Kultur, Segeln sowie Wein und Gastronomie
Sitges Town Council, through the Councillor’s Office for Tourism, is launching a new project to improve and drive the promotion of experiences in the municipality’s main tourist sectors. The technical secretariats are for culture, sailing and wine gastronomy, offering a strategic and collaborative tool to establish the most suitable action to be carried out in these three spheres. The project is included in the EU’s Next Generation Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans.
The Councillor’s Office will be meeting with the private sector and the main tourism stakeholders in the municipality in different sessions, open to professionals to take part in. The Councillor for Tourism, Xavier Ripoll, notes that “the model for technical secretariats offers ongoing follow-up of working areas, generates synergies with public and private stakeholders and favours more coordinated and results-driven decision making”.
The technical secretariats have already completed an initial stage to analyse the current situation, identify opportunities and detect shared challenges, and will now embark on a new stage with the first sectoral working groups.
The first session on wine and gastronomy is being held on 23 February at 10 am. This strategic area is linked to the local identity and the town’s positioning as a wine and gastronomy destination. The sessions on sailing and culture will be held on 26 February, at 9 am and 12 noon respectively. These two sectors play a key role in differentiating and deseasonalising tourist activity.
The working groups are conceived as spaces for active participation with professionals from each sector, the goal being to validate the initial analysis, define shared priorities and establish a roadmap with specific actions in the short and mid term.
Professionals from the spheres of culture, sailing and wine and gastronomy who wish to take part can register by sending and email to professionalsturisme@sitges.cat.
This process will enable the Councillor’s Office for Tourism to opt for a working methodology based on strategic planning, professionalisation and joint responsibility, key aspects in making Sitges a specialised, sustainable and competitive destination.
About EU Next Generation DTSPs
With this new package, the Councillor’s Office for Tourism continues to roll out the EU’s Next Generation Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans (DTSP), funded with five million euros as part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Eleven projects are currently being developed in areas such as the green and sustainable transition, energy efficiency, the digital transition and competitiveness. The finalisation date is 30 June 2026, and with these initiatives the aim is to improve tourist governance, foster specialisation and boost the destination’s competitiveness through the creation of stable spaces for work in these sectors, as well as improving the quality of life of residents and the experience of visitors.
