Sitges steps up its tourism information service over the summer with mobile information officers

On 1 July, Sitges launches its mobile tourist information service for a third consecutive summer, running until 18 October. The town also joins the new Tourism Information Officer Badge programme of the Network of Catalan Tourism Information Offices, further enhancing service quality

On 1 July, the City Councillor’s Office for Tourism will launch its mobile tourism information service. Back for a third year, this initiative enhances personalised assistance for visitors in the town’s tourist hotspots during high season.

The service will run every day of the week until 18 October, from 10 am to 2 pm. The two information officers can be found near the main attractions in the historic centre and seafront areas, adapting their routes according to visitor numbers and offering information proactively.

This service will complement the assistance provided by the Sitges Tourism Information Offices. The return of the initiative for a third season “reflects the popularity of the service among tourists and its role in improving the visitor experience by bringing information to the places where it’s needed,” says Xavi Ripoll, the city councillor for Tourism. “Information officers also promote resources, activities and venues off the beaten path, helping visitors discover more of what the town has to offer.”

New Tourism Information Officer Badge in Catalonia

The officers will be wearing the new badges introduced by the Network of Catalan Tourism Information Offices as a form of official identification for tourism information professionals, recognising their essential role welcoming, guiding and assisting visitors, as well as their contribution to promoting and enhancing local tourist attractions.

The initiative seeks to foster a sense of belonging to a shared professional network and highlight the daily work of tourism information teams, considered key players in the visitor experience and in raising the profile of various destinations.

It also incorporates advantages through a network of tourist and cultural sites that offer free admission to badge holders, encouraging a deeper understanding of Catalonia and promoting exchanges among professionals in the sector. The Network is encouraging tourism destinations to get more venues involved in the initiative to strengthen synergies between regions.
