Sitges strengthens its backing for wine and food for "Catalonia, World Region of Gastronomy 2025"

The Councillor’s Office for Tourism takes part in Tasty Catalonia, a professional event with travel agents specialising in gastronomy, and hosts a fact-finding mission to position Sitges as a prime destination in this sector

The Councillor’s Office for Tourism at Sitges Town Council continues its work to promote local food and wine as a key element for attracting quality tourism. In this respect, and in the context of ‘Catalonia, World Region of Gastronomy 2025’, the office took part in two notable events on Tuesday.

 

The town was present at the Buy Catalunya – Workshop Tasty Catalonia, held at La Canonja, an event bringing together over 78 international operators specialising in wine and food tourism and premium tourism. The councillor’s office held some twenty commercial meetings during the event, engaging with professionals from several strategic European markets (Benelux, Central Europe, France, Italy, Spain, UK and the Nordic countries), as well as from the Americas and from the Asia-Pacific region. Attendance at the workshop, organised by the Catalan Tourism Agency, enabled the town to promote Sitges’ wine and food options on a global level.

 

Sitges also hosted a fact-finding mission organised around Catalonia, in collaboration with Barcelona Provincial Council, with 12 agents specialising in wine and food tourism and premium tourism from Poland, France, Germany, USA, Brazil, Norway and Finland. The visit included a stroll around the old town, highlighting the heritage and cultural options there, plus a visit to the Malvasia Interpretation Centre (CIM) and a supper with local produce and cooking.

 

After the closing session on Friday, 6 June, the international agents and operators will be staying in Sitges, allowing them to gain more first-hand knowledge of the destination.

 

With these actions, Sitges reaffirms its positioning to become a unique, singular and attractive destination all year round, also in wine and gastronomy.
