Sitges celebrates the “Comerç Fantàstic” campaign as part of the SITGES – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia

06 October 2026

The initiative, taking place from 8 to 16 October, features a programme of cultural and leisure activities for the whole family, with the aim of boosting Sitges’ local retail sector and enjoying the festival atmosphere.

The Department of Economic Promotion is launching the “Comerç Fantàstic” campaign as part of the 59th SITGES – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia. Taking place from 8 to 16 October, the initiative will boost the town’s local retail sector through a range of cultural, leisure and family activities, allowing visitors and residents to enjoy the festival atmosphere along the town’s main shopping streets. The main shopping streets will be decorated with festival-themed banners, and a photo booth will be set up at Cap de la Vila.

One of the campaign’s main activities is the children’s treasure hunt “Find the Thing”. Inspired by the disembodied hand from the 1992 film The Addams Family, the activity coincides with the 34th anniversary of the film’s release. Participating shops will hide a reproduction of the iconic Addams Family character in their windows. Children wishing to take part will have to complete a card by collecting the stamps from the establishments where they find it. Once completed, the card must be deposited in the ballot boxes provided at the Municipal Market and at the Tourist Information Office in Plaça Eduard Maristany.

The children’s treasure hunt prize draw will take place on Friday 16 October at 5.30 pm at Sitges Municipal Market, as part of the “12 months, 12 activities at the Market” campaign. During the event, prizes will be drawn among the participants and five winners will be selected. Prizes include festival merchandise, tickets to a Sitges Family screening, a breakfast and a VIP Tour, as well as gifts from participating establishments. During the prize draw, guitar students from the Gemma Casanovas School will give live performances.

The traditional jazz band Apocadixie Cotton Pickers will perform a musical parade on Thursday 15 October at 5 pm along the main shopping streets in the town centre. The performance will fill Sitges’ shopping streets with music, bringing the New Orleans jazz sound of the first decades of the 20th century to the town.

The seventh edition of Curts a la Fresca, held in Plaça Catalunya in the Poble Sec neighbourhood, is once again one of the highlights of “Comerç Fantàstic”. The first of the two screenings will take place on Friday 9 October at 8.30 pm and will feature Ratón de biblioteca, by Javier Yañez Sanz (13’); Super Z, by Marc Dalmau and Dani Giménez (13’); Las Lágrimas de Sísifo, by Luis Larrodera Sanz (13’); The Synthetic Age, by Dimitris Arlmenakis (8’); The Sock, by Aleksi Räisänen (6’); and Dreamwalker, by Sinem Vardarli and Luca Schenato (15’).

The second screening will take place on Friday 16 October, also at 8.30 pm, and will feature Ghosting, by Yago Casariego (8’); ¡Pika!, by Alex Fischman (18’); Wisteria, by Ian Garrucho (22’); The Fling, by Jemma Cotter (5’); and El Fantasma de la Quinta, by James A. Castillo (18’).

With this programme, “Comerç Fantàstic” strengthens the connection between local businesses and the SITGES – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, inviting residents and visitors to experience the festival atmosphere in the town’s streets and establishments.
