The Town Council is publishing a new guide to the entire Sculpture Park in the town, featuring 44 sculptures. Each of the pieces on display has a QR code that provides access to information about the sculpture in four different languages (Catalan, Spanish, English and French)
The Department of Culture has completed the work plan undertaken to update the Sitges Sculpture Park. As part of this process, conservation work has been carried out on the pieces, and the guide has been reissued with comprehensive information about the 44 sculptures that make up the artistic collection.
The Councillor for Culture, Albert Oliver-Rodés, states that “the Sitges Sculpture Park is a unique expression of the town’s cultural identity. Since its inception, the project has helped to showcase a heritage collection of extraordinary value. The new guide invites residents and visitors to explore Sitges with an attentive eye, rediscover its spaces through the art of sculpture and enjoy an open-air museum.”
The new Sculpture Park guide provides updated information about the sculptures and their creators. The booklet, published in Catalan in its physical format, will be available free of charge at the Tourist Information Offices, the Adult Education Centre, the municipal libraries and Miramar – Cultural Centre, while stocks last. The digital profile of each sculpture can also be consulted on the new Sculpture Park website, where a detailed explanation of each piece can be found, allowing visitors to explore its meaning in Catalan, Spanish, English and French.
The first catalogue of this sculptural heritage was produced in 2014, with an inventory of 42 pieces. Since then, the Department of Culture has worked actively on the conservation and, in some cases, relocation of the sculptures. The new edition of the booklet incorporates two additional sculptures, bringing the total number of pieces included in the guide to 44.
