Presentation of the Sitges Carnival 2024 poster
The 2024 Sitges Carnival already has a poster. Local designer, Edgar Comas Casanova, is the author of the party's image, which is an update of the 1998 Carnival poster, the work of Sitges artist Agustí Albors. Edgar Comas is Agustí Albors' nephew and wanted to pay tribute to this illustrator who created so many party posters. The presentation took place on Saturday, January 20 at 4 pm at the Hort de Can Falç, in the framework of the Arrozada of the Panxampla's group, who this year are in charge of the character of the Carnival King.
Edgar Comas is a graphic designer trained at the school of La Llotja in Barcelona and wanted to review the poster of Albors 1998 with the techniques of 2023. Thus, the drawing and watercolors of Albors have become transparencies or degraded.
For Comas "is a tribute to my uncle, for a poster that is the first of which I remember," but adds that "this year's poster wants to unite tradition with modernity.
The President of the Carnival Commission, Jordi Andreu, connected telematically at the event and assured that "when Edgar explained the history of the poster we all found it very interesting" and wished that "these few days left until Carnival must be used to polish the last details and once again make a great Carnival".
The Mayoress of Sitges, Aurora Carbonell Abella, closed the event by wishing everyone a very good Carnival and assured that the poster "is a reminder of the past and a tribute to those who have preceded our festivities, something that in Sitges we always have to keep in mind".
The 2024 Carnival will kick off on Thursday "Gras", next February 8th and will close on Ash Wednesday, which this year falls on February 14th.
